Our take on Outbound
The store page presents exploration, construction, gardening, cooking, companionship, and co-op as one broad package, but gives little indication of how these systems are structured over longer play sessions. The experience is framed around pace and customization rather than a clearly defined campaign.
What is Outbound?
Outbound takes place in a bright, idealized future where players roam varied environments from a camper van.
Beginning with a bare vehicle, they transform it into a traveling residence using modular building pieces, color choices, furnishings, decorative items, and crafting stations. Solar, wind, and water sources supply its power. Travel includes discovering notable locations and collecting materials for construction and technological improvements. Cultivated plots yield edible plants and fungi, either eaten as gathered or prepared into dishes. Players may take in an animal companion, then care for it through feeding, affection, and training. Solo play and online cooperative journeys support groups of up to four people.
