Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking action combat rather than point-and-click task solving may lose interest during the puzzle-driven progression.
- Players who prefer a straightforward protagonist may hit a wall when managing three Rufuses whose actions create additional complications.
- Players looking for a standalone story may not find this conclusion as suitable as a first entry in the series.
Our take on Goodbye Deponia
Players may bounce off when a puzzle requires switching between all three Rufuses and coordinating their actions. The cloning premise adds another layer to task solving, while Rufus's tendency to interfere with himself creates further complications before progress can continue.
What is Goodbye Deponia?
Goodbye Deponia is a point-and-click adventure and the conclusion to the Deponia trilogy.
Rufus, an inventor living on the junkyard planet Deponia, wants to reach Elysium, an orbital society reserved for its highest-ranking residents. When Goal disappears and the Organon threatens to destroy Deponia, Rufus uses a cloning machine and ends up dealing with three versions of himself. Players occasionally control all three Rufuses, coordinating their actions to complete tasks while their conflicting behavior creates further complications. The game presents a comic setting with hand-drawn HD 2D graphics, animated musical cutscenes, sarcastic dialogue, and black humor. Its story follows efforts to recover Goal, reach Elysium, and prevent the planet's destruction.
