Our take on Doler
Its defining mechanic is communication through scented droppings: leaving a message changes fullness and speed while passing information to later players in the same daily maze.
What is Doler?
Play as a mouse searching a large, eerie maze for a substantial food stash.
The maze is randomly generated, resets each day, and uses the same layout for every player. Other players can be contacted asynchronously through droppings that carry different smells and convey messages such as warnings, directions, or nearby food. Creating a message reduces fullness, making the mouse faster, while seeds and berries restore fullness. The maze contains four areas, seven items, several enemies and hazards, and objects such as a lantern, toothpick, and Q-tip. Items remain after resets. Reaching the endpoint awards a point, with accumulated points contributing to a global ranking. The stated playtime is about 1 hour.
How Doler plays
- 01Shared Daily Maze
- The randomly created layout resets every day and is identical for all players.
- 02Scent Message System
- Droppings with different smells let players leave asynchronous directions, warnings, and food-related notes.
- 03Fullness Speed Tradeoff
- Leaving a message lowers fullness and increases movement speed, while seeds and berries restore fullness.
- 04Persistent Maze Items
- Useful objects collected during runs remain available after the maze resets.
- 05Global Point Ranking
- Each successful trip to the endpoint adds a point toward a higher worldwide rank.
