Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking brief or standalone battles may find the 28-chapter campaign too long.
- Players who want defeat to have no lasting effect may bounce off the wounds, stat penalties, and squad weakening caused by fallen soldiers.
- Players looking for real-time combat will not find that pacing here.
- Players uninterested in managing characters, classes, and equipment may find squad development demanding.
Our take on Dark Deity
The bounce point arrives when a soldier falls: defeat is not permanent death, but the resulting grave wound and stat penalty weaken the squad. Players who expect retries to reset the tactical cost may hit resistance at this campaign-wide consequence system.
What is Dark Deity?
Lead four students from Brookstead Military Academy across 28 chapters of turn-based combat in Terrazael.
Build a squad from 30 playable characters, train them, and assign them among 54 classes with different attacks and skills. Equip soldiers with hundreds of weapons and spells, including ancient artifacts. Battles require maneuvering, attacking, and breaking through enemy lines across hand-crafted scenarios. Character relationships develop through 400 conversations. Defeat does not permanently remove a warrior, but each fall causes a grave wound, a stat penalty, and a weaker squad. The campaign follows the group as inexperienced soldiers become veterans while they confront war, magical cataclysms, and political conflict.
