Our take on It Stares Back
Rather than treating fallen troops as a permanent loss, the game turns death into a source of reinforcements: soldiers can revive from collected dying pools. That changes the usual attrition pressure of strategy combat, with repeated undead waves forming part of the battle structure.
What is It Stares Back?
Explore the Four Kingdoms as the Noble Guide, a commander who can summon lost spirits to join an undead army.
Send the Guide to activate map spires and reveal troop resources, then expand across regions and fight the beasts in the Clamoring Mist. Battles use real-time, hex-based strategy, while RPG mechanics connect the campaign to a hand-painted story. Soldiers can revive in collected dying pools, allowing repeated waves of undead troops. The game is in Early Access; the vendor says it receives regular updates to the Dreams of the Makers map region. Players can also make and share maps through the community.
