Our take on Crystal Cosmos
Its defining mechanic is the color switch: matching the ship to an enemy enables the attack, but the change also exposes the ship to incoming fire.
What is Crystal Cosmos?
Crystal Cosmos is a side-scrolling space shooter built around color matching.
The ship must take the same color as an enemy before attacking it, while changing colors leaves the ship exposed to incoming fire. Story Mode covers eight levels set across the Crystal Cosmos, with distinct environments, enemies, and bosses. The story follows Lord Alabastar, whose kingdom is invaded and whose shattered core must be reassembled by traveling through the eight kingdoms. Shards earned from defeated enemies and completed levels can be spent in an item store on upgrades. Each level records performance and awards a score at its conclusion. The game includes a custom control system, gamepad support, stylized visuals, fast-paced encounters, and boss battles.
How Crystal Cosmos plays
- 01Color-Based Attacks
- Changing the ship's color enables attacks against enemies of the matching color but leaves it vulnerable during the switch.
- 02Eight Story Levels
- The campaign travels through eight kingdoms, with each level providing its own setting, opponents, and boss.
- 03Shard Upgrade Store
- Shards from defeated foes and completed levels can be exchanged for upgrades.
- 04Level Performance Scores
- The game records play performance and assigns a score at the end of each level.
- 05Gamepad Support
- A custom control system works with full gamepad support.
