Our take on Broken Lines
The tactical RPG label may suggest conventional turn-by-turn movement, but soldiers move during an action phase. The war setting also gives less prominence to the included expansion’s supernatural shift toward undead forces, occult mysteries, and inhuman bosses.
What is Broken Lines?
Broken Lines is a tactical role-playing game set during an alternate version of World War II.
After their aircraft comes down in Eastern Europe, a squad stranded beyond opposing forces must return home without intelligence or command assistance. Battles use turn-based tactics, with movement limited to the action phase. Decisions change the narrative and may lead to varied campaign conclusions. The included Dead and the Drunk expansion introduces a three-way conflict between human and undead combatants, occult questions, and monstrous bosses. Battlefield scouting lets soldiers draw the undead into fights with enemy troops before attacking the survivors. Drinking grants soldiers additional perks and abilities, combining squad tactics, narrative choices, and supernatural warfare.
