Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players who prefer one consistent viewpoint may bounce off the switch between side-view tank exploration and top-down character combat.
- Those seeking action without exploration may hit a wall when new abilities are needed to access further areas.
- Players who prefer 3D games may not enjoy its 2D presentation.
Our take on Blaster Master Zero
The perspective change is a likely bounce point: tank exploration uses a side view, while dungeon sections switch to Jason in top-down mode. Players who want to move straight ahead may also lose interest when exploration and newly acquired abilities shape access to further areas.
What is Blaster Master Zero?
Blaster Master Zero is a 2D action-adventure game with an 8-bit style and side-view and top-down sections.
In side-view areas, players control the battle tank SOPHIA III and search for dungeon entrances. Inside, they control Jason in top-down mode and fight mutants. Defeating mid-bosses and area bosses yields items, sub-weapons, equipment upgrades, and abilities that let SOPHIA III reach new areas. The game builds on the original 1988 Blaster Master with new areas and bosses, additional sub-weapons, and expanded exploration mechanics. A second player can support the first player in cooperative multiplayer.
