Play it if you…
Good fit- Survival-horror fans who want first-person combat against mutants
- Players who enjoy exploring enclosed laboratory settings while following mission guidance
- Horror players who want choices to affect the ending and unlock further modes
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking endings that lead to substantially different overall conclusions may find the choice system limited.
- Players who want a survival game centered on crafting or base-building may find the focus on combat and laboratory exploration too narrow.
- Players looking for a cooperative multiplayer shooter may not find the described agent guidance equivalent to co-op play.
Our take on PATHOGEN X
Players who expect choices to reshape the story may hit a wall at the endings: decisions change which ending appears, but the overall conclusion stays the same. The additional modes and quests arrive only after completing the game, so they do not broaden the initial run.
What is PATHOGEN X?
PATHOGEN X is a first-person survival horror shooter starring special agent Aiden Clark, sent into an underground laboratory to contain a biological threat and recover a sample.
Mutants with different traits hunt through the complex, and weapons found inside can be used to fight them. Satellite messages from agent Maya Ackerman provide updates and navigation guidance. Progress also involves environmental obstacles and puzzles, including shooting locks and breaking boards to open routes. Choices affect which ending occurs, although the endings do not change the overall conclusion. After completing the game, players can access additional modes and quests. The soundtrack shifts between battle music and weapon and enemy sounds during combat.
