Our take on Xuan-Yuan Sword: The Gate of Firmament
Rather than turn-based encounters, combat runs in real time. The game also layers demon companions, equipment refinement, attack buffs, and formations onto that encounter structure, departing from a battle format centered on a single combat system.
What is Xuan-Yuan Sword: The Gate of Firmament?
Set in ancient times, the story follows efforts to stop a demon from threatening the mortal realm after the Jade Emperor opens a passage between heaven and earth.
As chaos spreads, Emperor Zhuanxu seeks help from the Queen of Huaxu and her children; the gates are eventually sealed with divine artifacts. Battles use a real-time, encounter-based system. Captured demons can join fights through the Guardian System, while the Urn of Spirit Infusion supports demon-synthesis and equipment refinement. The Miracle System provides additional attack buffs, and Battle Formation offers another way to organize combat. The game also uses lighting, facial animation, lip-sync, and motion capture to shape its scenes and portray its characters.
