Our take on Witch Strandings
The game’s physical cursor controls make movement central to the experience, but that focus leaves less room for conventional action mechanics. Permanent character deaths also make experimentation carry lasting consequences rather than resetting cleanly after mistakes.
What is Witch Strandings?
Witch Strandings is a top-down open-world adventure set in a dark fairytale forest shaped by a distant Witch.
Movement uses cursor gestures: fast swipes cross rapids, while careful progress avoids quicksand. The journey involves transporting supplies to nurture disturbed creatures, repairing or activating ancient structures, and forming routes through the ruined landscape. Distinct biomes follow a day-night cycle, while mushrooms and mystical artifacts can change parts of the world. Characters can be killed permanently. The story leads to a confrontation with the Witch, followed by a choice about the Forest’s fate.
