RPGIs Windforge worth it for you?
We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Players who enjoy steampunk settings and want exploration through changing environments
- Builders who want to create and pilot customizable airships
- Action-RPG fans who want crafting and destruction alongside combat
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players who want a fixed, hand-built world may dislike the procedural environments
- Players seeking a tightly linear campaign may find the open quest structure too loose
- Players looking for a grounded setting may bounce off the steampunk world and Sky Whale premise
Our take on Windforge
The bounce point is the open-ended construction system. Players who need fixed routes or tightly authored spaces may lose momentum when procedural environments, destructible objects, and flexible quests replace a clearly prescribed path.
What is Windforge?
WindForge is a side-scrolling action RPG set in a changing steampunk world.
Players explore hostile skies, follow quests, gather materials, craft items, and fight through environments where objects can be created or destroyed. Customizable airships can be built and flown during a journey to uncover an ancient energy source. Combat combines side-scrolling action with 360-degree aiming, while the procedural world contains multiple environments. The game includes over twelve hundred craftable items and a story about civilization’s dependence on Sky Whale oil. Quests provide direction without removing freedom, allowing players to approach exploration, construction, survival, and combat through creative problem solving and improvisation.
