Is Masterspace worth it for you?
We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Players who want crafting and exploration across multiple planets rather than a single-world setting
- Builders who want terrain, structures and spacecraft that can be reshaped or damaged
- Groups seeking cooperative mining, construction and scenario play with space-race options
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking a tightly directed campaign may find the open-ended mining, building and exploration structure too diffuse
- Players wanting stable bases may dislike the possibility of terrain destruction and meteor damage to constructions
- Players looking for a grounded survival setting may not want planetary travel and spacecraft construction
Our take on Masterspace
Rather than treating the world as a fixed backdrop, Masterspace makes terrain, buildings and spacecraft destructible and constructible. Its spherical planets, flowing water and interplanetary travel replace the usual single-map structure with systems that alter how exploration and building work.
What is Masterspace?
Masterspace combines resource gathering, construction, exploration and survival mechanics across destructible planets.
Early play begins with mining stone and cutting trees for basic materials, then expands into advanced crafting for buildings, machinery and spacecraft. Explosives can break apart terrain and expose metal ores, while meteor impacts can damage constructed homes. Spaceships enable travel between planets, including worlds with ice, lava or unusual lifeforms. Water flows dynamically and can be redirected with pumps and pipelines. Buildings use a hybrid system that places blocks over destructible terrain, and spherical planets add a different spatial structure. Multiplayer supports shared mining, scenario completion, construction projects and space races. Lua scripting allows customization of many game elements.
How Masterspace plays
- 01Destructible Environments
- Terrain, buildings and spacecraft can be damaged or reshaped, including through explosives and meteor impacts.
- 02Planetary Exploration
- Spaceships travel between planets featuring environments such as ice, lava and unusual lifeforms.
- 03Progressive Crafting
- Gathered resources advance from basic building supplies to machinery, weapons and spacecraft components.
- 04Liquid Simulation
- Water moves across planets and can be redirected with constructed pumps and pipelines.
- 05Shared Multiplayer
- Players can visit planets, gather resources, complete scenarios, build together or compete in space races.
- 06Lua Customization
- Lua scripts can modify many aspects of the game.
Masterspace compared to similar games
Masterspace combines crafting and survival-style construction with interplanetary travel, destructible planets and spacecraft, while Mr. Prepper centers on preparing an underground shelter amid a nuclear-war threat and authoritarian government. Mad Island focuses on surviving an unknown island, finding lost friends and escaping, rather than building and traveling between multiple planets.
