Our take on Who Must Die
The premise emphasizes experimentation and moral consequences, but the practical scope is tightly bounded: three patients, a focused investigation, and a final selection or refusal. The longer replayable version does not change that core structure.
What is Who Must Die?
Investigate three patients as a replacement doctor trying to identify which one is contaminated.
Examine the patients, conduct experiments, and gather evidence before making a decision. The guard can carry out certain actions instead of the doctor. The game presents an escape-room-style structure focused on investigation, choice, and consequences for human life. The final decision allows one patient to be killed, or permits refusing to select anyone. Videos featuring the development team are included as part of the presentation. Who Must Die began as a prototype for the Epic Game Jam in November 2015, where it won the first prize, and was later expanded into a longer version intended for replay.
How Who Must Die plays
- 01Three Patient Investigation
- The central task is to determine which of three patients carries the contamination.
- 02Medical Experiments
- Evidence is gathered by carrying out tests on the sick patients.
- 03Guard Assistance
- The guard can perform certain harmful actions on the doctor's behalf.
- 04Choice-Based Outcome
- The investigation ends with a choice to kill one patient or decline to select anyone.
- 05Replay-Oriented Structure
- The expanded version is presented as longer and intended to support repeated play.
