We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Strategy players who want village management combined with real-time tower defense
- RTS fans who prefer campaigns involving resource allocation, troop training, and hero abilities
- Players who enjoy changing maps, unlockable heroes, and long-term decisions across multiple towns
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking uninterrupted real-time strategy, since village development is separated into a turn-based daily phase
- Players wanting a single fixed settlement, since the campaign moves between towns and can permanently lose their benefits
- Players looking for a purely city-building game without nighttime combat and troop control
Our take on ValeGuard
The store presentation emphasizes varied towns, unlockable heroes, and a climactic final battle, but the central structure is a repeated cycle of daytime preparation followed by nighttime defense. Town loss also removes previously gained campaign benefits.
What is ValeGuard?
ValeGuard combines turn-based village management with pauseable real-time combat.
During the day, players allocate workers, provide food and housing, craft weapons, train troops, and build walls, towers, and traps. At night, enemies attack, requiring defensive orders for towers, troops, and heroes. Villages can contain changing features such as pumpkin patches, graveyards, and wizard towers, while random events may create fights or provide magical items. Travel across the Vale between towns, each offering a hero, technology, and starting-resource increase. Destroyed towns remove their benefits. Troops can gain experience and receive armor or mounts, while towers remain fixed. Heroes become available through events and quests, and campaign choices affect the final battle against the dark generals.
How ValeGuard plays
- 01Day-night structure
- Village construction and preparation occur during the day, followed by defensive battles at night.
- 02Resource management
- Workers support food, housing, troops, and fortifications while wood and iron supply weapon crafting.
- 03Pauseable combat
- Combat can be paused while directing mobile troops, stationary towers, and heroes.
- 04Traveling campaign
- Moving between towns provides new heroes, technologies, and starting-resource increases, but destroyed towns lose their benefits.
- 05Troop upgrades
- Troops gain experience and can receive armor and mounts, unlike towers, which remain static.
- 06Changing town events
- Random events and town features can alter management, trigger battles, or provide magical items.
