Our take on Usurper
Rather than keeping card play separate from the battlefield, Usurper has the king advance to enable plays near the front lines. Its deckbuilding is tied to unit placement and counterattacks, and the game pairs a roguelike campaign with online multiplayer.
What is Usurper?
Usurper is a turn-based roguelike deckbuilder where the king serves as a frontline weapon.
Play cards to deploy units, and move the king forward to use cards closer to the battle. Stockpiled Power pays for stronger units, including the Queen and Cannon. During runs, draft cards, upgrade the ruler, and choose gambits to shape deck synergies. The campaign has 8 starting decks, 10 difficulty levels, and 13 bosses, with the Overlord as its final opponent. The game also has 4 factions, lets players build a custom deck, and includes online multiplayer. Battles center on unit placement, with units able to counterattack enemies and change the course of a fight.
