We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Strategy players who enjoy planning around action-point limits

- Players seeking repeated runs with varied starting decks
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players who want uninterrupted real-time action may stop at the Time Unit pause-and-resume system
- Players who prefer short, fixed encounters may find the 3-day survival objective and increasingly challenging runs too extended
- Players looking for a card game without permanent progression may dislike upgrades that carry between victories
Our take on The Dark Horde
Players who prefer continuous action may hit a wall when their Time Units run out and the game pauses. Those who rely on reacting immediately must wait for the next turn before playing cards or abilities, making advance planning central to every encounter.
What is The Dark Horde?
The Dark Horde is a card-based strategy game about commanding minions and casting spells from four domains: Death, Destruction, Corruption, and Frost.
Each round begins with 180 Time Units, which are spent on cards and abilities before play pauses until the next turn resumes. Victory comes from plundering an enemy village or surviving for 3 days against waves of villagers. Victories provide loot for improving cards, abilities, and starting options. The game includes 20 starter decks, more than 200 cards, permanent progression, and an Endless Mode. Card combinations create different strategies, while each victorious run can provide a card upgrade. Encounters become increasingly challenging, with goblin looters among the available enemies.
