SimulationIs This Starry Midnight We Make worth it for you?
We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Players who want a simulation centered on creating celestial objects
- Players interested in a story set in early-20th-century Kyoto
- Players who prefer character-led experiments involving stars and a night-sky model
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking a simulation with several distinct management systems beyond celestial-object creation
- Players looking for a fast-paced game rather than a focused sequence of experiments and city walks
- Players who want a setting other than early-20th-century Kyoto
Our take on This Starry Midnight We Make
The game’s focus on star creation and related walks narrows its scope to a specific experiment-driven premise. That focus leaves less room for broader simulation systems or varied activities outside the basin and its effects on Kyoto.
What is This Starry Midnight We Make?
This celestial growth simulation follows Hamomoru Tachibana, an overly serious clergywoman visiting Kyoto, Japan, in the early 20th century.
After becoming lost on a forest road near a shrine, she meets Chuuya Shingoh, a curious student of sciences. Chuuya introduces her to the Star-seeing Basin, where pebbles can be used to grow stars and a model of the night sky. Hamomoru agrees to assist with his experiments after losing her wallet leaves her in Kyoto. The pair create stars in the basin and walk through the city to examine whether these objects can affect Kyoto in ways resembling onmyou divination.
How This Starry Midnight We Make plays
- 01Star Creation
- Pebbles placed in the Star-seeing Basin can produce stars and a model of the night sky.
- 02Kyoto Walks
- Hamomoru and Chuuya leave the basin to walk through Kyoto during their experiments.
- 03Character-Driven Premise
- The story follows a clergywoman assisting a self-described science student after becoming stranded in Kyoto.
