Our take on The Anomaly Experiment
Instead of moving through a conventional adventure built around exploration or combat, the game centers progression on detecting changes in familiar rooms. Its structure turns observation, memory, and correct threat responses into the main source of tension.
What is The Anomaly Experiment?
A prisoner accepts a drug trial in exchange for a commuted life sentence.
The main task is to inspect an experiment room, return after taking the drug, identify changes, and record them in a computer system. Three rooms contain numerous object anomalies and events, while dangerous threats require specific responses. Incorrect anomaly reports cost lives, and losing all lives restarts the current room. Completing a room opens the next one, with permanent unlocks allowing later restarts from that point. A final task completes the three-room progression. Hidden details reveal more of the experiment’s story. Standard and Hard difficulty modes are available, with an estimated completion time of approximately 3 hours or longer.
How The Anomaly Experiment plays
- 01Anomaly Detection
- Each room presents changed objects and events that must be identified and entered into a computer.
- 02Threat Responses
- Dangerous encounters require particular actions, and an incorrect response causes death.
- 03Permanent Progression
- Unlocked rooms remain available for restarting without replaying earlier sections.
- 04Two Difficulty Modes
- Standard provides the intended experience, while Hard offers a significantly more demanding version.
