The defining structure is a no-save run in a changing home: altered objects, puzzles, horror events, and story pieces are randomized, while excessive sanity loss ends the entire play-through.
What is Confabulation?
Explore a house where rooms and objects change during each play-through.
Photograph altered items to return them to normal and prevent further sanity loss, then solve puzzles to unlock new rooms. Story fragments reveal what happened and contribute to completing the main narrative. Pills restore memory and help keep sanity in check. As sanity falls, additional horror elements and changes appear; losing too much ends the run and requires a restart because there is no saving. Puzzles, altered objects, horror events, and story pieces are randomized in each play. Normal and hard difficulties are available from the start. Hard mode adds more changes, tougher puzzles, and less time. Statistics record accomplishments and the best completed time for each difficulty.
