AdventureIs TAURONOS worth it for you?
We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Adventure players who want maze exploration with permanent consequences
- Arcade fans who prefer short, challenge-focused stages over open-ended dungeon crawling
- Players interested in Greek mythology, retro pixel art, and metaphorical storytelling
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking a forgiving progression system may find permanent death too punishing
- Players wanting a traditional roguelike dungeon crawler may find the fixed 6-chapter, 42-stage structure too directed
- Players looking for a relaxed or slow-paced exploration game may dislike the pursuing Minotaur and time pressure
Our take on TAURONOS
The store page foregrounds myth, secrets, and self-discovery, but the playable structure is also a demanding arcade experience. Permanent death and an advancing Minotaur create pressure that may matter more in repeated play than the atmospheric framing suggests.
What is TAURONOS?
TAURONOS is an arcade-style adventure set in a dark labyrinth inspired by the myth of Theseus and the Minotaur.
Players explore maze-like stages while the immortal Minotaur closes in, searching for tools, rewards, secrets, and ways to defeat it. The campaign contains 6 chapters and 42 stages, with chapter-specific challenges, patterns, and rewards. Progression includes 5 upgrade types with 3 levels each, plus 3 hidden upgrades and 2 unique upgrades. Secret routes and Easter eggs are scattered throughout the maze. A custom map editor provides user-created challenges and can unlock additional content through progress in the main story. Permadeath makes failed runs permanent, while retro pixel art, voice acting, and metaphorical storytelling establish the game's dark presentation.
