Our take on Strangeland
Rather than treating adventure puzzles as a fixed sequence with one correct answer, Strangeland allows different methods, interpretations, and outcomes. It also removes several familiar genre penalties, including dead ends, illogical puzzles, pixel hunting, and backtracking.
What is Strangeland?
Strangeland is a classic point-and-click adventure set in a surreal carnival.
The player investigates a mystery involving a woman who repeatedly dies and a Dark Thing perched above the park. Exploration leads through dozens of rooms, whose forms change as the carnival becomes more distorted. Progress combines riddles, environmental clues, unusual tools, strange allies, and puzzles with multiple possible approaches and solutions. Choices can affect the story and endings. The game includes an optional in-character hint system, full voice acting, original music, developer commentary, and an annotation mode explaining references. Its central themes include identity, loss, self-doubt, and redemption. A complete playthrough takes approximately five hours, with replay value from alternate choices, puzzle solutions, and endings.
