Our take on The Consuming Shadow
Permanent death defines the experience: each expedition combines shifting dungeons, changing objectives, and sanity management with the risk of losing the run.
What is The Consuming Shadow?
Explore a procedurally generated land threatened by the invading Ancients, entering dungeons with changing layouts and objectives.
Combat encounters include 20 monster types, while eight spells provide additional ways to face them. Sanity management is part of survival, and permanent death gives each run lasting consequences. Four characters can be found and unlocked, with each offering a different play style. The game includes six dungeon categories, ten mission categories, random encounters, collectibles, and a bestiary tied to the world’s lore. The Insanity Edition adds challenge-focused options, including Daily Challenges and The Descent, an endless dungeon mode.
