Our take on Takara Cards
The deck represents both the Cadet and the ship, tying card choices to the two parts of the journey’s central setup.
What is Takara Cards?
Takara Cards combines roguelike progression, deck construction, and role-playing in a science-fiction fantasy universe where a Cadet hunts space dragons.
Travel through the Cosmos and gain Maneuver and Equipment cards from narrative encounters, advancement, and merchants. Battles use alternating turns and card synergies; linked plays grant bonus experience, while clearing an enemy group restores batteries. Four species can be opened, with a different vessel assigned to each. Choices and encounters alter Reputation and Karma, affecting the Cadet and deck. The game contains more than 140 cards, 40 units, narrated tabletop-inspired events, hand-painted visuals, and a Codex covering lore and tactics.
