Our take on Tailwind
The adventure framing gives the game a broad journey narrative, but its actual play centers on tactical positioning. The prince's progress depends on arranging warriors around enemy threats, so the story premise is less representative of the moment-to-moment structure than the puzzle mechanics.
What is Tailwind?
Tailwind follows Elrick, a cowardly prince sent by the king on a sea journey to reach his princess.
The game uses soft pixel art and tactical puzzle mechanics. Each character has health, attack, and attack-range attributes. Players place warriors on each isle so enemies cannot attack the prince. Some situations require several warriors to help move one character into the needed position. The journey spans 40 dangerous isles, with enemies including bandits, Papuans, and warriors from the north. Progress depends on arranging the available warriors and using their positions to manage threats as Elrick advances toward his destination.
