Our take on EvilMorph
Rather than keeping one character’s abilities fixed, EvilMorph makes defeating enemies part of the player’s transformation system. Progression therefore comes from taking on enemy forms and using their powers, replacing the more familiar platform-game structure of a single hero with a changing playable identity.
What is EvilMorph?
EvilMorph is a platform game set in a grim labyrinth.
After defeating an enemy, the player can transform into that foe and gain its abilities. Each transformation provides a different type of power, which can be used while navigating obstacles and confronting other enemies. The game includes numerous opponents and bosses described as invincible. Progress continues through the labyrinth toward an ending that reveals a troubling discovery.
How EvilMorph plays
- 01Enemy Transformation
- Defeated foes become available forms that grant their abilities.
- 02Ability-Based Progression
- Different forms provide different powers for dealing with obstacles and enemies.
- 03Labyrinth Platforming
- Progress takes place across a grim maze containing obstacles, regular enemies, and bosses.
EvilMorph compared to similar games
EvilMorph uses defeated enemies as playable forms and ties their abilities to platforming through a labyrinth. Sundered: Eldritch Edition is described as a chaotic metroidvania, while SUPER CHICKEN JUMPER focuses on runner gameplay with shooting, jumping, dodging, and destruction rather than enemy transformation.
