Our take on stepbystep
Rather than asking players to react during platforming, the game makes planning the central action: commands are written first and executed afterward. Its turn-based structure replaces the immediate control usually associated with platformers, turning movement into a programming puzzle.
What is stepbystep?
stepbystep combines platforming puzzles with turn-based mechanics and programmable actions.
Each level requires writing a sequence of commands, then watching the game execute that sequence automatically. The game includes more than 40 levels and uses five colors as part of its minimalist presentation. Its computer-composed music accompanies about two hours of gameplay, or about 30 minutes for ultra-pro puzzle crackers and speedrunners. The game was made with Haxe and the OpenFL framework, and supports Linux and Windows.
