Our take on Bakka
Bakka trades real-time control for deliberate sequencing: the Reaper cannot adjust a route while it is underway. That constraint makes advance planning the main activity, but leaves little room for improvisation once execution begins.
What is Bakka?
Bakka is a tactical infiltration game built around advance planning.
Each level has two phases. First, the player programs the Reaper’s movements and actions, choosing a route to the exit while considering the guards and how the instructions will unfold. The Reaper remains stationary during this planning phase. Second, the Reaper carries out the programmed sequence exactly. The level is completed when the Reaper reaches the exit without being detected. The central challenge is creating a successful path before seeing the complete result of those actions, then checking whether the plan survives the guards’ positions and the level’s conditions.
How Bakka plays
- 01Two-Phase Levels
- Movement planning happens before the Reaper begins carrying out the programmed sequence.
- 02Exact Command Execution
- The Reaper follows the selected movements and actions precisely once the second phase starts.
- 03Guard Avoidance
- A level is won when the Reaper reaches its exit without being spotted.
Bakka compared to similar games
Bakka focuses on programming one infiltration route and then observing its exact execution, while Shogun Showdown centers on turn-based attacks, positioning, upgrades, skills, and deck building. Xenonauts covers squad-based, turn-based defense against an alien invasion, with persistent soldiers and technology recovery rather than Bakka’s single-route stealth planning.
