RPGIs Stardeus worth it for you?
We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Colony-simulation fans who want to manage a damaged starship rather than a ground-based colony
- Players who enjoy coordinating drones while balancing oxygen, heat and power
- Strategy players interested in combining resource processing with exploration of generated planets
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players who want a low-pressure opening may hit a wall while trying to restore life support before the crew suffocates.
- Players who prefer a narrow, fixed task loop may find the mix of ship rebuilding, resource production, crew management, research and exploration demanding to track.
- Players looking for a game focused on direct character control may not enjoy directing drones as an AI.
Our take on Stardeus
The first pressure point is the opening emergency: a small drone crew must salvage and repair the ship while life support is restored. Players who do not want to juggle oxygen, heat and power may hit a wall before the crew can awaken.
What is Stardeus?
Stardeus is a colony simulation set aboard a damaged starship, where the player acts as an AI directing a small group of drones.
Salvage materials, repair the ship and restore life support before the human crew runs out of oxygen. Rebuild the vessel and balance oxygen, heat and power to keep it operating. Process resources into components, grow crops for food, and research alien technologies using the ship’s computers. As the crew awakens and gains skills, take the ship to procedurally generated planets and systems to explore and mine. Events and encounters, including traders, pirates and alien threats, are generated by a story system. Decisions include how to treat or exploit the human crew and how to respond to events.
How Stardeus plays
- 01Ship system management
- Oxygen, heat and power must be balanced while restoring life support and maintaining the vessel.
- 02Resource production
- Raw materials can be processed into components, while crops provide food for colonists.
- 03Procedural exploration
- Once the ship has power and a crew, it can travel to generated planets and systems to explore and mine.
- 04Crew decisions
- The AI can choose whether to care for or exploit the human survivors.
