Our take on Space Empires I
The broad empire-management design trades immediate battlefield action for long-term planning across research, ship construction, diplomacy, intelligence, and territorial expansion. Players focused on moment-to-moment combat may find the strategic layer takes priority over direct engagement.
What is Space Empires I?
Lead a newly spacefaring race in a turn-based campaign of galactic expansion and survival.
Build ships by combining hulls with components such as scanners, shields, weapons, cloaking devices, boarding parties, and emergency supplies. Research larger hulls and additional technology, eventually reaching vessels ten times the size of the starting hull. Encounter extraterrestrial empires and negotiate trade agreements, partnerships, treaties, and protectorates. Intelligence operations range from gathering information to sabotaging ships and encouraging rebellion on a planet. Travel between star systems through naturally occurring warp points, which can be opened or closed when the required technologies are available.
