Our take on NEBULOUS: Fleet Command
The presentation focuses on detailed ship systems, sensors, and tactical decisions, while the actual scope centers on fleet combat: a narrative strike-force campaign and isolated skirmishes rather than broader empire management.
What is NEBULOUS: Fleet Command?
Command customizable fleets in three-dimensional space battles using radar, electronic warfare, weapon targeting, formations, and movement orders.
Ships can operate together, split into task groups, or receive separate assignments. Asteroids and gas clouds obstruct sensors, while electronic countermeasures can disrupt detection and ships can reduce active systems to lower their signatures. The narrative campaign follows a small strike force behind enemy lines, with limited fuel, munitions, and ships, plus optional objectives and salvage. Skirmishes support AI and human opponents, with fleets built from multiple ship classes and configured by weapons, power, sensors, defenses, and other systems. Individual components can be damaged and repaired. The game also includes Steam Workshop mods and an editor for custom campaigns.
