Our take on Simmiland
Players who need direct commands may bounce off the central interaction: cards affect the land and surrounding objects, while the civilization develops indirectly. Those seeking unlimited play may also hit a wall in Endless mode, where achievements are unavailable.
What is Simmiland?
Simmiland is a god game built around indirect control.
Players create a small civilization and alter its surroundings by applying cards to land, plants, minerals, objects, and sometimes empty tiles. Card effects vary by location, so experimentation reveals different findings. Humans generate faith when they pray or when their wishes are fulfilled, and faith pays for further cards. An inspect card can trigger inventions that expand exploration.
Normal mode limits the deck and includes an apocalypse card, while Endless mode allows unlimited card play but excludes achievements. Achievements and progress provide in-game currency for purchasing additional cards. A game lasts 10–60 minutes, with about 20 cards, 13 biome types, more than 30 inventions, over 40 resources, and more than 20 achievements.
How Simmiland plays
- 01Location-based cards
- The result of a card depends on whether it is placed on a particular biome, object, or empty tile.
- 02Faith economy
- Humans provide faith through prayer and fulfilled wishes, and that resource pays for card plays.
- 03Invention discovery
- Using the inspect card on selected targets can reveal inventions that open further exploration.
- 04Two play modes
- Normal mode uses a restricted deck and achievements, while Endless mode permits unlimited cards without achievements.
- 05Card collection
- Progress and achievements provide in-game currency for buying additional cards.
