Our take on AI Spelcraft
The bounce point arrives at spell construction: players must turn four random kanji into a useful battle idea before the AI interprets it. Anyone who wants direct control over known abilities may stall there, especially when a deliberately weak spell is the tactical choice.
What is AI Spelcraft?
AI Spellcraft is a battle game built around creating spells from four randomly assigned kanji characters.
Players combine the characters into an original spell, then an AI evaluates and explains its damage, element, and effect. Winning does not always require the strongest-looking result, since deliberately weak spells can also serve a tactical purpose. A local versus mode lets two players compete on one PC while claiming kanji and forming spells. Steam Remote Play Together supports battles between friends in different locations. The game uses OpenAI’s ChatGPT for spell evaluations, which may take longer under server load. Changes to that service could cause the game to be suspended or discontinued.
