Skip it if you…

- Players looking for fantasy, science-fiction, or non-war scenarios
Our take on Order of War™
The large-scale command structure trades away the close, individual-unit focus found in smaller tactical games. Its two campaigns broaden the historical scope, but players seeking one tightly focused storyline may find that breadth less concentrated.
What is Order of War™?
Order of War is a World War II strategy game set during the 1944 Allied and Soviet offensives on Germany.
It includes two campaign modes with separate storylines, missions, objectives, and environments: one follows American forces in the west, while the other places players in command of German forces opposing the Red Army in the east. Battles can involve forces of up to 1,000 soldiers, tank divisions, armored vehicles, heavy artillery, and aircraft. A dynamic camera supports command across broad battlefield areas while presenting cinematic views. Free downloadable content adds German Arado and Allied B-24 Marauder bomber units, infantry mortar units, heavy artillery strikes, and a survival mode built around enduring successive enemy waves.
How Order of War™ plays
- 01Two campaign modes
- The western Allied and eastern German campaigns use different narratives, missions, objectives, and settings.
- 02Large battlefield forces
- Command formations containing as many as 1,000 soldiers alongside tanks, armored vehicles, artillery, and aircraft.
- 03Survival mission
- A separate mode challenges players to withstand repeated attacks for as long as possible.
- 04Expanded air support
- The added content includes German Arado and Allied B-24 Marauder heavy bomber units.
- 05Additional artillery units
- Infantry mortars and off-map heavy artillery strikes are available through the added content.
Order of War™ compared to similar games
Order of War and Men of War: Assault Squad both cover large-scale World War II strategy. Order of War centers on two distinct campaigns across the Western and Eastern Fronts, while Men of War: Assault Squad emphasizes direct, hands-on control of individual units during battles. The other listed alternatives do not describe the same World War II command task.
