ActionIs Operation Body Count worth it for you?
We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- First-person shooter fans who want a level-based campaign set in a skyscraper
- Players who prefer directing computer-controlled squad members rather than fighting alone
- Action players interested in older shooters with traps, ambushes, and weapon variety
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking a slow-paced or meditative experience may find the combat-focused climb a poor match.
- Those looking for a small, tightly contained campaign may not want to take on 40 levels.
- Players seeking officially supported LAN or online multiplayer should note that these modes are not supported in this release.
Our take on Operation Body Count
The focus on climbing through a 40-level combat campaign leaves little room for the slower exploration and puzzle-solving found in other action games. Multiplayer is included, but the release does not officially support those modes.
What is Operation Body Count?
Operation Body Count is a first-person shooter set in a United Nations skyscraper held by terrorists.
Fight through 40 levels to reach the top and rescue the hostages. The corridors contain traps, ambushes, and monsters; enemy forces also lay traps and prepare attacks. Computer-controlled squadmates can receive commands, and players can take control of different members during combat. The arsenal includes machine guns, a flamethrower, and a rocket launcher capable of opening passages through walls. A map marks the player’s location and can help uncover concealed areas. The CD-ROM edition opens with a movie-style sequence and includes footage presented between gameplay scenes. LAN and online multiplayer options are included, though this release does not officially support them.
