Our take on Rendering Ranger™: R² [Rewind]
The game’s nine-level structure and mix of platforming and shooter stages keep its focus on a fixed action campaign. That focus leaves little room for an open-ended format or a broad range of play styles.
What is Rendering Ranger™: R² [Rewind]?
Play as the Rendering Ranger, a special forces soldier fighting an alien invasion across nine levels.
The game alternates action-platforming with fast horizontal-shooter stages. Stages feature sprawling layouts and cinematic presentation, while combat includes upgradable weapons, numerous enemies and large bosses built from sprites converted from pre-rendered 3D models. This release includes emulation of both Rendering Ranger: R² and the unreleased PAL version, Targa, with rewind and save features. The original game was developed by Manfred Trenz for Super Famicom and released in 1995.
