Our take on ESTEN
The close-range combat focus leaves less room for distance-based engagement. The main campaign also concentrates its structured content into nine levels, with the additional mode relying on randomized challenges rather than another fixed campaign.
What is ESTEN?
ESTEN is a horizontal bullet hell focused on experimental close-range combat.
Playing as Mik, players use shotgun options, dash at high speed, and fire energy shots at aliens, drones, and angels. The game includes a main campaign with nine full levels, with no automatic scrolling so movement through each stage remains player-controlled. A separate randomized roguelite Time Challenge Mode tests objective skill. Combat centers on approaching enemies and combining close-range blasts with rapid dashes. The game therefore offers two structures: a defined campaign and a randomized challenge mode built around time-focused objectives.
How ESTEN plays
- 01Close-Range Combat
- Shotgun options and energy shots are used against nearby aliens, drones, and angels.
- 02Manual Stage Movement
- The horizontal levels do not scroll automatically, so players control their progress through each stage.
- 03Nine-Level Campaign
- The main campaign contains nine full levels played as Mik.
- 04Randomized Time Mode
- A separate roguelite mode randomizes its structure while testing objective skill.
