Our take on Obscura
The emphasis on repeated surprises and unpredictable encounters may suggest a larger horror campaign than the product provides. Its structure is instead a stationary, objective-free experience built around randomized events, secrets, and atmosphere rather than movement, combat, or conventional progression.
What is Obscura?
Obscura is a stationary VR horror experience set around an awakened presence in old woods.
An almost invisible entity creates tension through unpredictable events, while environmental tools let players look and listen for signs of danger. The game has no objectives and focuses on fear, secrets, and cryptic lore. Events are randomized, so repeated visits can produce different encounters. Movement is disabled, with stationary and room-scale play supported. Oculus Rift tracking works in both 180° and 360° configurations. An in-app setting provides super-sampling, while MSAA and TAA are available for anti-aliasing. The experience is intended for repeated sessions and can be used during VR parties.
