Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking combat systems or action-heavy encounters may hit a wall because the game centers on walking and exploration.
- Players who need stable environments may bounce off the sudden transitions into unexpected Backrooms levels.
- Players looking for management, crafting, or puzzle-focused progression may find the exploration-centered structure too narrow.
Our take on Liminal City
The bounce point arrives when the seemingly safer streets stop being stable. Players who need predictable navigation may hit a wall as sudden shifts send them into unfamiliar Backrooms levels, while those sensitive to persistent watcher-focused tension may turn away once isolation gives way to implied pursuit.
What is Liminal City?
Explore the streets of Backrooms Level 11 in a first-person psychological horror game presented through VHS-style found footage.
The city contains empty roads, unfamiliar buildings, secret routes, strange events, and anomalies. Although the streets may appear relatively safe, sudden reality changes can move the player into other Backrooms levels without warning. The game centers on walking, observing, investigating, and searching for a way out while signs suggest that unseen figures are nearby. Camera movement and analog-horror presentation support the exploration structure. Developed with Unreal Engine 5, Liminal City focuses on atmosphere, environmental mystery, and the uncertainty of whether each step leads closer to an exit or to another presence.
