Our take on SANRI
The emphasis on psychological horror and distorted perception may suggest a story-led experience, but the practical structure centers on unguided exploration. The warning about limited hints is important: locating clues and deciding where to go form a substantial part of the challenge.
What is SANRI?
SANRI is a first-person psychological horror game about searching for a missing wife after a camping trip.
The protagonist’s perception of time and space changes as he explores forests and other unsettling environments. Exploration takes priority over frequent guidance, and the game warns that finding the way forward can be difficult. Enemies tied to the protagonist’s fears may be avoided or confronted. Antipsychotic medication is used to manage delusions. Players examine and interact with objects, photograph clues, and revisit memories while investigating the disappearance. The game combines environmental exploration, mystery-solving, enemy encounters, item use, and shifting locations.
How SANRI plays
- 01Exploration-led mystery
- The investigation unfolds through environmental searching rather than abundant hints.
- 02Changing perception
- Shifting time and space affect the protagonist’s experience during the search.
- 03Fear-driven enemies
- Some enemies can be evaded, while others can be faced directly.
- 04Medication mechanic
- Antipsychotic drugs are items used to deal with the character’s delusions.
- 05Photographic clues
- Taking photos connects mysterious evidence with memories from the investigation.
