Our take on Moon Dancer
The attack-first balance gives Moon Dancer a direct pace, but reduces emphasis on the evasive play that defines many scrolling shoot-'em-ups. Its structure also centers on a fixed eight-stage route and a short score challenge rather than extended progression.
What is Moon Dancer?
Moon Dancer is a vertically scrolling shoot-'em-up in which a fighter uses standard shots and lock-on lasers against successive enemy waves.
Its design favors attacking enemies quickly rather than concentrating on bullet avoidance. Arcade mode contains eight stages, with three difficulty settings and a clear condition based on completing the full route. Caravan mode is a three-minute score challenge. Both modes include local and online rankings. The game uses an NES-inspired color palette and includes two music versions: an original recording by HIROKKEY and a chiptune arrangement by Taku Shiiba. The option menu allows switching between the two soundtracks.
