Our take on Layer Section™ & Galactic Attack™ S-Tribute
The added rewind, saves, slow mode, and ranking features sit around a fixed-format vertical shooter rather than changing its arcade structure. The package also presents two releases of the same underlying game, so the second title is a regional version rather than a separate campaign.
What is Layer Section™ & Galactic Attack™ S-Tribute?
Play Layer Section, the home-console edition of RayForce, or Galactic Attack, its overseas release.
Pilot the X-LAY weapon in a vertical 2D shooter and use lock-on lasers to target up to 8 enemies across ground and low-orbit areas. Hitting several targets at once can increase the score multiplier; destroying 8 together gives a 128x multiplier. Added options include rewind, slow mode, quick save and load, stage selection, online rankings, screen orientation, scan lines, and faster rapid-fire settings. Rapid fire reaches 30 shots per second, compared with 15 in the original home-console version. Coin credits can be set up to 99. A controller is required.
