What is METAGAL?
METAGAL is a 2D platformer-shooter about Meta, a cyborg girl trying to rescue her creator, Dr.
Ray, and her sisters from General Creeper. The game has 8 stages with distinct settings and hazards. Meta fights her sisters, who have been turned into battle cyborgs, then uses their abilities and weapons after defeating them. There are 30 enemy types, not counting bosses, and secret items that upgrade the character. A Gear system softens the death penalty. After completing the game as GAL. 00, GAL. 01 becomes playable with separate upgrades, though her mode has cut-off story content. The game supports customizable keyboard and controller controls; controller support is limited to XInput devices. It is also available for Mac.
