RPGIs LONESTAR worth it for you?
We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Deckbuilder fans who want spaceship combat rather than fantasy or modern settings
- Roguelike players who enjoy adapting builds with units, treasures, and randomized talents
- Strategy players who prefer planned head-to-head battles without surprise attacks
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking direct, real-time action may find the Power-building battle format too deliberate
- Players who want a fixed campaign with the same crew and build each run may find the randomized talents and varied combinations less suited to that structure
- Players looking for cooperative or multiplayer play may not find the team-based experience they want
Our take on LONESTAR
Rather than relying on surprise attacks, battles are framed as contests where both ships accumulate Power before the outcome is decided. The structure also places paid leave and choice-driven events between bounty missions, giving the hunting loop a vacation phase alongside ship customization and combat.
What is LONESTAR?
LONESTAR is a roguelike spaceship deckbuilder about a bounty hunter pursuing criminals across the universe.
Each battle has both ships build Power and compete in a shockwave contest, with no surprise attacks. Ships have distinct specialties and exclusive units; additional units are collected during missions. After completing a bounty, the hunter gets paid leave, where events offer choices and resources. The game includes dozens of pilots with individual skills and random talents, plus hundreds of treasures with different functions. Before a mission, players can review information on wanted criminals, including 15 boss-level targets, and adjust their combat approach. An in-game encyclopedia collects information on most units and treasures for planning builds.
