Our take on Little Orpheus
Rather than centering on an expansive map or character progression, the game uses a nine-episode side-scrolling format with a cinematic adventure tone. Its unusual settings and film references make the journey feel like a sequence of pulp-inspired episodes instead of a conventional open-ended quest.
What is Little Orpheus?
Set in 1962, Little Orpheus follows Soviet cosmonaut Comrade Ivan Ivanovich after he enters an extinct volcano in the Little Orpheus exploration capsule.
The side-scrolling narrative adventure takes him toward the center of the Earth, through lost civilizations, underwater kingdoms, prehistoric jungles, and other subterranean settings. The story draws on classic adventure films such as Flash Gordon, Sinbad, and The Land that Time Forgot. Across nine episodes, Ivan faces the Menkv, encounters monsters, and attempts to survive improbable situations. The PC edition includes remastered episodes, music by Jessica Curry and Jim Fowler, and a Lost Recordings mode with collectibles, commentary, and costumes that can be unlocked.
