Our take on Last Horizon
The minimalist, meditative presentation foregrounds the journey’s atmosphere, while each run also demands fuel, oxygen, hull management, precision landings, and careful resource collection. The survival systems make the voyage more demanding than its quiet presentation may initially suggest.
What is Last Horizon?
Pilot humanity’s final vessel through procedurally generated star systems in search of a habitable world.
Navigation uses inertia, gravity wells, asteroid fields, and planetary orbits, while each landing and departure affects the journey. Fuel, oxygen, and hull integrity must be monitored during travel. Planets provide resources needed to continue, and over-harvesting can provoke sentient alien life. The journey also includes encounters with alien organisms, unusual celestial phenomena, and scattered human survivors. Each run creates a different route and set of challenges. A minimalist presentation, atmospheric space setting, and ambient soundtrack accompany the survival-focused flight and resource-management systems.
How Last Horizon plays
- 01Procedural Star Systems
- Each playthrough generates a different map and new challenges.
- 02Physics-Based Flight
- Inertia, gravity wells, and momentum shape movement through asteroid fields and planetary orbits.
- 03Resource Management
- Fuel, oxygen, and hull condition must be monitored throughout the expedition.
- 04Planetary Landings
- Successful touchdowns allow the craft to collect resources needed for continued travel.
- 05Alien Encounters
