Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking a combat-centered RPG may find the emphasis on narrative, social encounters, and moral decisions limiting.
- Players wanting fast, continuously escalating action may bounce off the focus on nighttime exploration and deliberate character interactions.
- Players uninterested in vampire themes, political intrigue, or moral transformation may have little reason to continue.
- Players looking for a management, crafting, or puzzle-focused game will not find those as the central structure.
Our take on Cabernet
The likely bounce point arrives when supernatural abilities and social reading become central to a target encounter. Players expecting combat or direct objectives may stop when they must study motives, choose a moral direction, and deal with Liza's changing identity.
What is Cabernet?
This 2D narrative RPG follows Liza, a young vampire living among unsuspecting townsfolk in a 19th-century Eastern European-inspired setting.
Players guide her through human communities and vampire society while uncovering political intrigue, class conflict, and corruption. During the hours of darkness, Liza can explore, hunt, influence people, or assist them. Her abilities include flight, invisibility, and using song to entrance others. Choices shape whether she preserves her empathy or embraces nihilism. Understanding the motives of potential targets is part of arranging encounters, with characters including a coachman, a troubled married couple, and a charming charlatan. Art, literature, history, and science are among the knowledge areas used during the story.
