- Survival game fans who want optional resource-management systems
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking a fixed, story-led dungeon layout may find the random generation repetitive
- Players who dislike managing food, fatigue, crafting, and invasions may hit a wall in Survival mode
- Players wanting a forgiving Hardcore mode may reject its single-death structure
Our take on It Lurks Below
The bounce point arrives when Survival mode layers hunger, fatigue, invasions, crafting, and dungeon combat together. Players who choose Hardcore face another sharp limit: one death ends the character’s run, while Creative and Descent remove much of that pressure.
What is It Lurks Below?
It Lurks Below is a retro-styled, 2D action RPG set across randomly generated underground levels.
Players create a character from eight classes, including bard, cleric, enchanter, necromancer, paladin, rogue, warrior, and wizard. Exploration involves digging, fighting monsters, collecting items with random stats, discovering secret areas, and defeating bosses. Three main modes shape the game’s structure: Creative removes survival pressures, Descent focuses on dungeon combat and loot without hunger or fatigue, and Survival combines resource management with invasions and tougher dungeon challenges. Survival and Descent also offer Hardcore variants, where a character has one life. Surface activities include farming, cooking, mining, crafting equipment, and expanding a town.
