Our take on Heroland
Rather than framing dungeon crawling as a lone hero’s journey, Heroland places the player in a theme-park staff role, guiding paying visitors through their RPG adventure. Party tactics and support tasks take the place of simply leading the group into battle.
What is Heroland?
Heroland is a theme park where visitors pay to take part in an RPG adventure.
As a staff member, the player guides groups through monster-filled dungeons, setting guests’ strategies, repairing weapons, and healing the party. Comics can boost team stats, and capsule monsters can be called in to fight. Loot gathered during treasure periods can be used to decorate Lucky’s dorm room. The story follows the employee and the guests as they uncover secrets about the island and work together. More than 20 characters can be recruited, among them knights, thieves, students, and an otter whose identity is unclear. The MonDex collects advice, anecdotes, and trivia about monsters and coworkers. The game combines 2D sprites with 3D models.
