Play it if you…
Good fit- Small groups seeking cooperative and competitive board-game sessions
- Players who prefer short RPG-style matches that can be completed in 1–2 hours

Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking a long-form RPG with extensive story progression may find the short match format limiting

Our take on Heartwood Heroes
The short match structure limits long-term character development within one session. Randomized quests, events, jobs, and board layouts add variation but reduce control over the exact sequence of content encountered.
What is Heartwood Heroes?
Heartwood Heroes is a board-game RPG for up to 4 players, with local play and online sessions through Steam Remote Play; only one copy is required.
Players move around a board, reveal tiles, discover locations, meet characters, complete quests, and battle monsters in quick turn-based fights. Players can cooperate or compete while racing through randomly branching scenarios. Experience points determine the winner after the final boss is defeated. Characters can gain weapons, armor, accessories, spells, stat increases, and followers.
More than 20 jobs provide skills related to combat, money, equipment, or movement. Random quests, events, shops, the job market, and board layouts vary between matches. One game can be completed in 1–2 hours. Rules, board randomization, quests, and characters can be customized through Steam Workshop.
